Project Introduction
A Mused Collective is excited to announce the launch of a multi-phase project titled, sincerely rescripted. This project will explore the relationship between literacy and movement through the lost art of letter writing. We seek to investigate recurring themes of the human condition and explore humanity through music, arts and movement. We are requesting community involvement to help direct the creative process by writing and sharing letters to people, living or deceased that have impacted their lives in a positive or negative way. We will explore human connection and communication through music, art, dance and writing.
We are activating community involvement to help direct the creative process through a letter-writing campaign and community workshops. We are asking people to share letters with us that they have written or received. We are using the letters to guide our creative process as we choreograph movement and compose music. The letters will be more than creative fodder, they will be the impetus for meaningful communication with members of our community and an entry point for a community-generated exporation of literacy.
The first phase of sincerely rescripted is to incorporate the words and experiences of our community as documented through letters and translate them into a performance art piece that we plan to present as a work in progress showing on April 20, 2013 at Kinetic Arts Center in Oakland, CA.
In our modern tech savvy world we are encouraging everyone to take a step back, reflect and participate by writing a letter or pull out that old shoe box full of letters from your closet and participate in sincerely rescripted. Your submission will be held with genuine integrity to your words and experiences. Please indicate 'private' or 'public' on your letter, 'private' letters will be used only for inspiration/development and 'public' letters may be shared or incorporated directly into the performance and/or art installation. We look forward to your reply and sincerely appreciate your participation.
